ABOUT DESARAE DEE
Desarae Dee is an award-winning Canadian Fusion Artist, composer, producer, and GRAMMY® voting member, globally known as The Queen of Vibes and has entered her next creative chapter as The Sonic Midwife. Blending Jazz, Gospel, Soul, R&B and Electronic influences, she creates bold, immersive sonic experiences that heal, elevate, and transform audiences around the world.
Since launching her career in 2014, Desarae has built a dynamic global presence through her innovative artistry and thought leadership. Her viral #4ChordWorship series has amassed nearly five million combined views and, alongside her Dee’s Theory Spotlight content, continues to educate and inspire musicians internationally. Across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, her work has reached millions more, cementing her status as one of today’s most influential voices in modern instrumental music.
She has performed on major stages including NAMM, Canadian Music Week, Sofar Sounds Toronto, Waveland Canada, and Toronto Pearson International Airport, where she currently holds a solo artist residency, spotlighting Canadian artistry in one of the nation’s busiest creative hubs. A Yamaha, Hammond Organ USA, and Juicy Earz Artist, she has toured nationally and internationally with the acclaimed hip-hop/jazz collective Super Duty Tough Work since 2023, expanding her reach across Canada and abroad.
In 2024, Desarae released Adventure: The Album, a 10-year legacy project chronicling her journey as a Black woman instrumentalist breaking barriers in the global music industry. The project achieved 2026 GRAMMY® Awards consideration in three categories: Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, Best Instrumental Composition (“Adventure”), and Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical). She was selected as a 2025-2026 GRAMMY U Mentor, presented by Amazon Music, continuing her mission to equip and uplift the next generation of creatives.
Now firmly in her Sonic Midwife era, Desarae’s focus is clear: to birth transformation through sound. She brings unapologetic innovation and spiritual depth to every composition; disrupting norms, healing hearts, and leading the next wave of musical expression. As both The Queen of Vibes and The Sonic Midwife, she bridges her legacy of groove, emotion, and authenticity with a renewed purpose: to create music that transcends boundaries and delivers healing on a soul level.
Beyond the stage, Desarae is a dedicated educator and mentor, serving as Music Accompanist and Music Director for the University of Toronto Faculty of Music Gospel Choir, an Elementary Teacher with the Toronto District School Board and guiding emerging artists through Women in Music Canada and the Marigold Music Program.
Through her artistry, leadership, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Desarae Dee continues to redefine what’s possible for instrumental fusion artists and Black women in music worldwide, ushering in a new decade of destiny through sound.
